It’s a big deal when the American Red Cross has to be called in for relief efforts. It takes a lot of resources for the nonprofit to be able to provide the needed items to victims. It can’t be done without your help. That’s why the upcoming fundraiser is such a Big Deal.

On Feb. 25, the Morgan-Lawrence County chapter, along with Decatur Jaycees, will host The Big Deal at Ingalls Harbor Pavilion. The 7-11 p.m. event will feature roulette, blackjack, poker, slot machines and other Vegas-style games.

Silent and live auctions are planned. Some of the items include a cruise, a NASCAR experience, a one-night stay at The Westin Huntsville with a gift card to Bridge Street Town Centre and a one-night stay at the Shoals Marriott and a Billy Reid Clothing Co. gift card (Reid is an award-winning designer from Florence). Some of the items for the silent auction include a Kindle Fire, an iPad, a catered dinner for 10 from Jody Witt with JW Steakhouse, a $100 gift card to P.F. Chang’s; a gift basket from Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Que and a gift certificate for a wardrobe consultation with Kate Cole.

Several local artists will be on site that evening to create works of art you can bid on fresh off the easel. Featured artists will be Robin Roberts, Lee Nabors, Arabelle Wilder, Jill Bronaugh, Mary Weeks, Patsy Roby, Tiffany Brightwell and Susan Estes.

The fundraising committee for the Red Cross includes Benita Owens, Tiffany Brightwell, Bryan Chapman (Jaycees chairman), Claudia Compton (silent auction chair), Julie Mathis, Kathy Goodwin, Patti Fowler (food chair), Sylvia Betts, Terry Welch, Tyron Newton, Vann Dyar and Zachary Richardson.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Your ticket price includes an appetizer buffet and two drinks. A cash bar will be available also. Proceeds from The Big Deal will aid local disaster relief efforts. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 256-353-4891 or visit morglawredcross.org.
